Arts & Eats… Indulge Yourself

Art galleries, eateries, waterfalls and an abundance of magnificent hiking trails surround the charming village of Wentworth Falls. With plenty of mountain retreat accommodation it’s easy to justify a weekend away here, yet also very accessible for a day trip from Sydney.

Wentworth Falls Village – eats, shops, gardens & picnic areas

This attractive tree lined village centre has a number of great little eateries and quirky speciality shops. We always enjoy stopping in for a bite to eat at the Il Postinos Cafe in the former Post Office building.

Art Galleries

One cannot visit the Blue Mountains without exploring some of the wonderful galleries, many owned and operated by the artists. Here’s a couple of our favourites in and around Wentworth Falls…

Falls Gallery

Falls Gallery – Wentworth Falls Village

Established in 1989, Falls Gallery is set in a large well established garden and housed within a beautifully restored weatherboard cottage… this has to be my favourite gallery in the area.  I love the delicate works of resident artist Anne Smith, however there are many other fabulous works by Ian Smith, Arthur Boyd, Charles Blackman, Wendy Sharpe and Garry Shead…. and more!

Exploring the gardens is also delightful, particularly on a misty day.

Norman Lindsay Gallery Estate

Just 20 minutes down the mountain from the Wentworth Falls village is the impressive Norman Lindsay estate ‘Springwood’. When Norman purchased the estate in 1912 he quickly set about creating the  Roman style gardens, planted trees and made many sculptures, fountains and urns to enhance the property.

The sandstone cottage  houses a collection of Norman Lindsay works and is run by the National Trust. The cottage and gardens as well as a gift shop and cafe are open 7 days a week.

Il Postinos Cafe has closed 😕

Now Cafe Aliment – I have not tried it yet but assume the outdoor setting is just as lovely.

A café and deli in the heritage Post Office building with a lovely shady garden area, also gorgeous in Autumn.

Adjacent to the Norman Lindsay Gallery estate is the very charming Lindsay’s Cafe. Nestled into a bush setting it’s the perfect spot to enjoy coffee and cake… or something a little more substantial. On our last visit we indulged in scones with cream and jam…. delicious!!!
